Advocacy with Legislative Committees

Some of the most active work done by the UVMA is accomplished by the State and National Legislative Committees. Rarely is there a legislative session that doesn’t include legislation affecting Veterinary Medicine or Animal Health. These committees keep tabs on upcoming legislation, contact representatives and senators, and vigorously fight to protect both the profession as well as animals we care for.

Stay Informed

The UVMA strives to keep you up to date on what is happening in the State as well as the industry. Through the UVMA Broadcast (the every other month newsletter), email alerts, facebook, and the UVMA website, we try to make sure that you are aware of what’s happening from pet food recalls to insurance changes. The members only section of the website holds a directory, calendar of events and more.

Public Relations

Our public relations committee is charged with increasing public awareness with the importance of having regular visits with you, the Veterinarian. In addition to managing our Facebook page, the committee is always looking for PR opportunities.

Employment

Expand your reach and your recruitment with an easy (and free for members) listing on the UVMA’s Available Employment page. A one-stop shop for hiring, equipment sales and relief veterinarians.

Stay Connected

Being a member of the UVMA means you are automatically connected with most of the Veterinarians in Utah. Get to know your colleagues through socials, continuing educations and membership meetings.

A Voice at the AVMA

Utah’s delegates to the American Veterinary Medical Association are part of the UVMA Board.  Twice a year they take the concerns of Utah Veterinarians back to the AVMA House of Delegates meeting as well as serve on various AVMA committees.

Get Involved

With the exception of the executive secretary, the Utah Veterinary Medical Association is run entirely by volunteers.  Build relationships with fellow veterinarians, have your voice heard and help shape the face of veterinary medicine in Utah by volunteering to serve on one of our many committees and board positions.   If you are interested in serving please contact us at 801-377-2890 or email info@uvma.net.

Continuing Education

The UVMA often sponsors continuing education opportunities open to all members. On the even years the UVMA organizes the Cayonlands Veterinary Conference held in Moab Utah. Nationally recognized speakers, a fantastic trade show, and a picturesque setting on the Green River makes this a must attend veterinary conference.

Savings & Discounts

As a member of the UVMA you are given access to UVMA sponsored continuing education at a significant discount (sometimes even free!). This includes the Canyonlands Veterinary Conference held in Moab, Utah on the even years. In addition to discounted CE, members can list available employment opportunities, equipment for sale, or be added to the relief veterinarian list for free.* These are available on our “Available Employment” page on www.uvma.net.
*Free listings are limited to 100 words.

Recognition

The UVMA Honors Committee is charged with selecting the nominees for Utah Veterinarian of the Year from among the members of the UVMA. In addition they also submit their recommendations for Life Time Membership status for those members who have worked to promote the veterinary profession in Utah.

Together we can make a difference.
